The Challenge: The checkout.liquid Sunset Crisis

The Trigger:

Samsonite LATAM operated on a heavily customized checkout.liquid framework. Each country (Chile, Peru, Mexico, etc.) required specific, mandatory data points—Tax IDs (RUT/DNI), legal authorizations, and localized address validation—to remain compliant with regional laws. With Shopify sunsetting the legacy checkout, Samsonite faced a "Cost of Inaction" where their regional operations would literally stop functioning without a code-heavy migration.

The Barrier:

Shopify's new Checkout Extensibility is inherently safer but more restrictive. The team needed to replicate complex, country-specific logic while avoiding the "Hard-Coding Trap" where every minor text change requires a developer deployment.

The Solution: A Headless Bridge for Checkout UI

We engineered a custom middleware solution that gives Samsonite the flexibility of a CMS within the high-security environment of the Shopify Checkout.

1. The Directus CMS Core:

Instead of hard-coding localized fields, we used Directus CMS as the "Brain." We built data models in Directus that store all country-specific text blocks, field requirements, and legal disclaimers.

The Result: Risk-Free Regional Expansion

Samsonite LATAM has transitioned from a fragile, code-dependent checkout to a robust, compliant, and marketing-friendly system. They no longer worry about failed deliveries caused by missing regional data or the looming threat of Shopify's legacy sunset.

"We didn't just rebuild the checkout; we future-proofed our legal compliance across the continent. Seeed's integration of Directus with Checkout Extensibility gives our regional teams the autonomy they need without risking our technical integrity."
