What are the options?
Square gift cards sold from one account, RFID wristband systems, or QR gift cards scanned on Square registers.

Three ways to run it, the offline-mode limit that catches organizers, and what it costs.
In 60 seconds
Square gift cards sold from one account, RFID wristband systems, or QR gift cards scanned on Square registers.
Square Gift Cards do not work in offline mode, so plan dedicated connectivity. Seeed's Cashless runs QR cards on Square hardware you already own, from $1,250 per event for up to 500 cards.
The options
Sell Square eGift Cards or custom physical cards at a central kiosk and accept them at the festival's Square registers. Square documents redemption at the issuing seller's own locations, so independent vendor accounts need a plan for shared balances.
A dedicated system issues wristbands, and readers at each stall read them. You pay for the reader hardware and run a second system next to Square.
Guests load a QR card at the gate. Vendors scan it with Square's camera scanner or the free scanner app, so no extra hardware sits at the stall. Cashless works this way.
Plan for it
Square states that Square Gift Cards are not available with offline payments, so registers need a connection to sell or redeem them.
Square help center
Square requires offline card payments to upload within 72 hours, and the seller carries the risk of payments that later decline.
72 hours
Run a dedicated network for the registers, add a backup uplink, and test the full redeem flow on site before gates open. Seeed also offers managed Wi-Fi and CCTV for events.

How it works
Four steps. Your team runs the event and Cashless handles the money.
01 / GENERATE
Create thousands of unique QR gift cards in the Cashless dashboard. Export a PDF for office printing or variable-data files for a card printer, or sell digital cards on demand.
02 / ACTIVATE
Guests load value at a cashier kiosk. Temporary staff use a cashier-only web screen that shows no Square settings.
03 / SPEND
Guests scan the QR card at any vendor. Each event gets its own Square location, so a card from one event cannot be spent at another.
04 / CLOSE OUT
Guests refund remaining balances at the kiosk. The Report Center exports refunds, consumption by type, terminal activity and daily revenue.
